Freebox TV: how to recover lost channels after an update

Freebox TV comment retrouver les chaînes perdues après une mise à jour

After a system or firmware update of your Freebox, it may happen that some channels disappear from the list, are no longer accessible, or simply display a black screen. This issue affects users of Freebox Révolution, Delta, Pop, and mini 4K, and can result from a configuration change, a temporary software bug, or a synchronization issue with the TV package. Fortunately, several solutions allow you to quickly restore all available channels.

Check the network connection and TV signal

Before entering advanced settings, make sure that the Freebox is properly connected to the Internet and that the connection between the Server and the Player is working correctly. Poor network synchronization can lead to the absence of certain channels.

Access the “Settings” menu of your Player (TV) > Network Information, and check that the IP address is assigned, that the Freebox is in router mode (or bridge depending on your configuration), and that the speed is sufficient. For HD channels, a minimum of 5 to 8 Mbps is required for stability.

If you are using a Freeplug (powerline), consider testing with a direct Ethernet cable to rule out a speed issue caused by CPL interference.

Launch a channel reset via the Freebox TV menu

After an update, it is possible that the channel list has not been refreshed correctly. To force a new scan of the package:

  1. Go to the “Freebox TV” menu > “Settings” > “Channels” > “Channel Search” or “Reset List”.
  2. Confirm the operation. This restarts the complete scan of the package, including free, paid (if active subscriptions), and local channels.
  3. Once the search is complete, the channels should appear again in the default order or in your favorites if the configuration is saved in your Free account.

This process may take a few minutes depending on your speed or the number of channels available in your region (including TNT).

Activate or reactivate channels from the “Subscriptions” menu

Some packs or channels may be disabled by default after a major update. To reactivate them:

  • Go to the “Freebox TV” menu > “Subscriptions” or “My Services”.
  • Check if your packages are still active. It is possible that some options like OQEE by Free, TV by Canal, or foreign channels need to be manually restarted.
  • Restarting the Player after reactivation allows you to refresh the grid.

Note that Free sometimes offers a repositioning of channels after an update, thus changing their number or location in the mosaic. A check in the “All Services” menu allows you to locate them quickly.

Reset the Freebox Player in case of persistent bug

If the channels remain absent despite the checks, a software reset of the Player can correct cache errors or internal conflicts:

  1. Unplug the Player electrically.
  2. Press the center button on the remote while plugging it back in.
  3. Hold until the startup menu appears, then choose “Partial Reset” (without erasing recordings or advanced settings).

This operation often resolves display issues with channels, slowdowns, or bugs following a Freebox firmware update.

Contact Free support in case of confirmed technical failure

If no method allows you to recover the channels, it is possible that a provisioning problem has affected your account or that the Free TV signal is experiencing a regional malfunction.

In this case, log in to your Free Subscriber Area > Assistance > Contact an advisor. You can also call 3244 or use the online chat. Technicians can remotely restart a synchronization of your TV package or inform you of ongoing maintenance.
