The TNT Sat card allows access to French DTT channels via satellite, without a monthly subscription. If you are considering purchasing it from Darty, it is important to know the price applied in-store or online, as well as the associated conditions: validity period, compatible equipment, and activation procedures.
Price of TNT Sat card at Darty: what to expect?
In 2025, the recommended retail price for a standalone TNT Sat card is €15 including VAT, a price generally respected at Darty, whether in-store or on their website. This amount does not include the decoder or the satellite dish, only the access card to the Astra satellite signal.
Some packs sold at Darty include the card with a TNTSAT-labeled decoder, which can raise the price between €90 and €150 depending on the model. It is therefore essential to check whether you are buying the card alone or a complete kit.
Validity period: 4 years without subscription
The TNT Sat card is valid for 4 years from its activation, without recurring fees. It provides access to nearly 30 free national channels as well as regional channels via the Astra 19.2°E satellite.
At the end of these 4 years, the card becomes unusable, even if the equipment still works. You will then need to purchase a new card to continue receiving the channels. This renewal involves the same cost, around €15.
Conditions to use the TNT Sat card
1. Have a compatible TNT Sat decoder
Only cards used with a certified TNTSAT decoder can function. These decoders are equipped with a smart card reader, similar to those used for Canal+ offers. Non-labeled models (such as Fransat, Viaccess, or free satellite) cannot use this card.
2. Satellite dish orientation on Astra 19.2°
Reception is only possible if your satellite dish is pointed towards the Astra satellite, located at 19.2° East. This orientation is different from that used for Fransat, which uses Eutelsat 5WA (formerly Atlantic Bird).
It is therefore impossible to interchange Fransat and TNT Sat cards, even if the rest of the equipment seems compatible.
3. No internet connection required
Unlike some IPTV boxes or replay applications, TNT Sat works without internet. This mode of broadcasting is well-suited for white zones, isolated secondary residences, or any home poorly served by the terrestrial network.
How to activate the TNT Sat card purchased at Darty?
Activation is automatic as soon as the card is inserted into a certified TNT Sat decoder, connected to a properly oriented satellite dish. No registration or online procedure is necessary. However, it may be necessary to:
- Update the decoder software (via satellite signal)
- Launch a channel search
- Wait up to 30 minutes on first use for complete decryption
The screen should display a message like “initialization in progress” or “card verification,” which is completely normal on first startup.
