An anticipated simplification of the Free ecosystem

Until now, Free users had to juggle multiple applications to manage their subscription and access the various services offered by the operator. With tools like Freebox Compagnon, Freebox Home, Freebox Files, and OQEE, also known as Free TV, the user experience could sometimes seem fragmented.

Free has decided to centralize all these features into a single application, which will simply be named “Free.” This change will streamline access to services and reduce the number of applications needed for daily use.

Integrated features and simplified management

The new Free application, currently in beta testing on iOS and Android platforms, introduces a unique interface that brings together all existing features. Users will need to link their Freebox to the application through a simple process. Once this step is completed, they will have access to two distinct interfaces to manage their mobile subscription and their Freebox.

A new tab, “My Wi-Fi,” is now available in the Freebox space. This tool allows users to manage network settings, schedule outages, share a connection QR code, and view the list of connected devices. Thus, users will no longer need to use Freebox Connect for these operations.

A gradual rollout planned for 2026

Free’s decision to consolidate its services into a single application is driven by a desire for simplification and efficiency. The “Free” application is expected to cover about 90% of subscribers’ needs, making the use of other platforms like the online customer area or Freebox OS often unnecessary for the majority of users.
